The University of Nottingham started its educational mission in 1881 when it was founded as University College Nottingham. Today, the university features several schools and departments representing five faculties: Science, Medicine and Health, Engineering, Arts and Social Sciences. The QS World University Rankings put the University of Nottingham in the world’s top ten. It is also the Sports University of 2021 according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide. The institution has a glorious history of world-changing research (in particular, it had a hand in the development of MRI) and is currently a member of the Russell Group of research universities.
The University of Nottingham is famous for its student career support efforts. The Times Higher Education ranked it in within the top 15 most targeted universities for employers, and Virgin Alternative Guide to British Universities named it one of the most employer-friendly amongst UK universities. Thanks to a partnership with a multitude of businesses, the university provides excellent internship and work placement opportunities.
The University of Nottingham welcomes more than 34,000 students in the UK alone, and its campuses in Malaysia and China bring the student count to impressive 47,000. Together, the students represent 150 nationalities. The university provides wide access to 200+ student societies and lots of activities, as well as a range of scholarships.

The friendly and ‘steeped in history’ city of Nottingham is a gem of central England. UNESCO awarded it with the City of Literature status. Along with exploring ancient architecture, parks and gardens, you can benefit from bustling nightlife, a number of festivals and world-class gastronomic experiences. Nottingham is located just 90 minutes from London by train, and it’s even quicker to reach other major cities.
The university’s main campus is located ten minutes from the centre of Nottingham. Both students and staff can use a free inter-campus bus service, while public buses connect the campus with the rest of the city.
The accommodation capacity of the university is 6,000 rooms. It has 15 halls of residence as well as a number of self-catered flats. Besides accommodation, Nottingham provides extensive English language support.
