Starting its history 140 years ago, the institution evolved into Middlesex Polytechnic in 1973 after combining 8 colleges. In 1992, it gained the university status and is currently known as Middlesex University. Along with its UK-based Hendon campus, it has facilities in Dubai, Mauritius, and Malta, as well as partnerships with institutions and research centres from all over the world. The North London campus alone has around 19,000 students from 140 countries, and the global student population is constantly growing and is now 37,000 students.
In 2012, the university reorganized its faculties to meet the current industry requirements. It now offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses spread across three faculties: the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Professional and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries. Middlesex University was the first to launch a cyber factory in the UK. Since 2017, students have a great opportunity to gain experience in the next-generation workspaces.
Middlesex University is highly acclaimed for its research activities and innovations in education. It is a three-time laureate of the prestigious Queens’ Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education. It also has two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise that marked its achievements on the global scene.
The university established Regional and International Merit Awards for undergraduate and postgraduate overseas students worth up to £2,000 towards their tuition fees. Alumni students can also benefit from a 20% discount provided they receive no other regional awards.
