The history of Coventry University starts in 1843 when it was established as Coventry College of Design. Since then, it went through a few stages of transformations – until 1987, it was known as Lanchester Polytechnic, after that – Coventry Polytechnic. In 1992, it finally received university status.
The university is well-known for its dynamic and interactive approach to teaching. Many of the subjects are delivered by acclaimed academics. The gold status in the Teaching Excellence Framework confirms the university’s achievements in the educational process.
The university is made up of four faculties: Arts and Humanities; Business and Law; Engineering, Environment and Computing; and Health and Life Sciences. Each faculty is comprised of a large number of schools. Its Film Production and Photography school has been ranked as number 1 in the UK. The Hospitality, Event Management, and Tourism hold the prestigious 5th place. No matter which subject students choose, they can take advantage of cutting-edge equipment, recently refurbished laboratories, computing centres, and art studios.
The university is home to 27,000 students from more than 130 nations. It offers a variety of scholarships and discounts for students coming from abroad. These include EU transition bursary, 3,000-worth sports scholarship, 15% alumni discounts, and The CTBI Hardship Fund.

Located in the heart of England, Coventry has been known as the centre of the British motor industry. The university has strong links with leading British car manufacturers including Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover, which provide ample study, research, and work opportunities.
