Founded in 1883, Cardiff University is the third oldest university in Wales. It tops the chart of the country’s institutions when it comes to the overall quality of education.
Cardiff University is spread across three colleges - Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Biomedical and Life Sciences; and Physical Sciences. In total, the colleges are divided into 26 academic schools. Along with that, the university features a Doctoral Academy which brings together the work of four graduate schools and the research department of the Graduate Centre. Through its Careers and Employability service, the university forms partnerships with many national and international companies across a wide range of industries and sectors. The service makes it possible for students to gain valuable experience through internship and full-time work.
The university welcomes more than 23,000 undergraduate students yearly, about 20% of which come outside of the UK. In total, it provides educational opportunities to students from 140 countries. International undergraduates and postgraduates have a chance to receive one of the numerous scholarships. In particular, it awards a £5,000-worth Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship to UE, EEA, and Swiss students. It also provides special scholarships for students from China, India, Mexico, Vietnam, Kenya, Tanzania, and other countries.

Cardiff University features two beneficially located campuses. Cathays Park sits amidst parks, beautiful avenues, and historical buildings. It is just 2 km from Cardiff’s train and bus station and 17 km from the airport. Heath Park is a healthcare campus based on the same site as the University Hospital of Wales. It provides a great opportunity to study in an ultra-modern clinical environment.
The university ensures 5,100 residency options for all first-year international students. The accommodation is mostly a single en-suite room in self-catered flats.
