Established in 2006 by merging the University of Luton and the Bedford campus of the De Montfort University, The University of Bedfordshire has a rich heritage dating back to 1882. The higher education institution takes pride in its dynamic and forward-thinking approach to teaching. In 2013, it received the Queen’s Award for pioneering research and the silver award in the Teaching Excellence Framework in 2017. The National Student Survey taking place in 2018 showed that 83% of students are happy with the university.

 

The University of Bedfordshire enrols 22,000 students from more than 120 countries. It works in close cooperation with a range of international educational partners in the EU, China, South East Asia, the Middle East, and China. The university provides scholarships and discounts for international students including a £1,000 VC Scholarship for undergraduates and postgraduates, a £500 alumni discount for those moving to a higher level of degree, as well as £500 prompt payment discounts.

Overview

The University of Bedfordshire is comprised of five campuses. The Bedford campus is known for its PE and Sport Science Centre. It’s an excellent location for student accommodation. In 2018, TickX named Bedford the 4th best student city in the UK. The Luton campus is situated only 22-minutes away by train from London’s centre and in close proximity to Luton Airport. The campus provides a variety of facilities equipped with the latest technology as well as a seven-storey library. The £40 million-worth STEM building incorporating 6,000m2 of teaching and laboratory spaces is located at the Luton campus as well. The Putteridge Bury campus stations itself in a beautiful Elizabethan mansion. It is home to postgraduate students. The Buckinghamshire campus features facilities for nursing students. Located 35 minutes from London by fast train, The Milton Keynes campus is the newest one built in 2013.

Overseas students can take advantage of the international London Luton Airport located close to Luton, Bedford, and Milton Keynes campuses. The university provides Language Centre to assess students’ level of English. The Centre is approved by the British Council.
